Anaconda - World's Largest Snake
Anaconda is the largest snake of the world. Anacondas live in the jungles of South America, especially the Amazon jungle and Amazon river. Anaconda make their homes in these jungles. Anaconda belongs to the BOA CONSTRICTOR FAMILY. Anacondas are mainly isolated creatures, as they mostly like to live alone and nearby swamps, rivers, lakes, etc. Anacondas only hunt for twice or thrice a year as they are cold blooded reptiles and like other snakes, can easily sower their metabolism. Basically, the Anacondas hunt and eat amphibians such as frogs and toads,even turtles, and other creatures including birds especially ducks. Reports also state that Anacondas also eat caimans and alligators.
Anacondas also easily kill and eat the world's largest rodent, Capybara.
Anacondas can gain grow to a length 6-7 meters, i.e. 20-25 feet long. In other words we can say that an average anaconda can be 6 meters long and can weigh up to 300 pounds, i.e. approx 150 kg.
Anacondas unlike python do not lay eggs but instead they give direct birth to the young eggs. An anaconda can give birth to 25-35 babies at a time. It is very difficult to find an anaconda in the wild, not only for researchers but also for scientists as all anacondas mostly like to live and spend their most of the time in dark waters and dense swamps.
Types of Anacondas in the World
There are mainly 4 types of Anacondas in the World.
1) Green Anaconda (Eunectus murinus)
2) Yellow Anaconda (Eunectes notaeus)
4) Bolivian Anaconda (Eunectes beniensis)
Interesting Fact To Know About The Anacondas : In mating, several competing males form a breeding ball around one female that can last up to four weeks.
Among these four types of Anacondas, Green Anaconda (Eunectus murinus) is the biggest & largest of them and grow up to 22-25 feet long.
